Round 7 of the GT Open takes us to Barcelona, the penultimate race in the calendar and a crucial race for Aaron & Steve as they lead the PRO-AM championship. The pair currently lead the standings by just two points; the difference of just a few places in one race.
The first day's qualifying went as well as expected, taking 2nd place just a few tenths off another Mercedes AMG GT3 in the Spanish sunshine. The race that followed saw the two drop a few places in the 39 lap race, taking 4th place behind two more AMGs and one Audi, taking 5 points.
Contrary to the sunshine the previous day, Sunday's qualifying session provided heavy rain for the pair to navigate. This session proved to be more competitive than the previous days, with Aaron & Steve managing 7th place. Despite this, the following race saw the two climb through the pack amongst the heavy showers to lead the race, staying there until the chequered flag, bagging 10 points to add to their championship lead.
