GT Open 2025: Hockenheim Recap

Germany hosts the third round of the International GT Open Championship, this time at the renowned Hockenheimring. The track has been in constant use since 1932, hosting F1 since 1970, and GT since 2019.Qualifying kicked off on a cool, humid and wet track surrounded by the thick regional forest of Schwetzinger Hardt. Within 10 laps, Aaron and Steve had claimed yet another 2nd place position to begin race 1 the following day.

Race 1 began on a similarly wet track, although a little warmer than the previous day, with track temps nearing the mid 30s. Each one of these blogs seems to highlight the pair's consistency, and this one is no different. After just over an hour, Aaron and Steve had claimed their second win of the season, solidifying their place in the championship.
Day 2 brought yet more rain, a drop in temperatures and a rise in humidity, with a track temp of half that the previous day. An 8th place was all the pair could manage in qualifying, so a little work was needed in the race later in the day.
Race 2 was a little more volatile compared to the previous day, with the two claiming 7th place after an hour of racing—a climb of one place from qualifying. Contact with car #13 added to the day's turbulent nature and resulted in a 5 second penalty. Can't win them all, but a mostly successful weekend and vital points added to the overall standings.
